How I carry 50 pounds of camera gear

I don't have a pack mule and my wife Lila does not always accompany me on my photo treks.
That has caused me to evolve a two-stage logistical operation.
I use two Lowepro camera bags. One is a Lowepro SlingShot 300 All-Weather Camera Bag the other is the Fastpack 200.
With these two really fine bags I can carry four SLRs and all my lenses plus filters, extension tubes and so on with room to spare.
The other extra gear goes into one of those 18 gallon rubber tubs.
I also use another small camera bag when having to wonder too far from my truck.
I simply assess what I will be shooting and what I will most likely need and pack those lenses, adapters and so on in the small bag.
This greatly reduces to amount of stuff I actually carry and still gives me the best shot at having the right equipment on hand.
If not, it's a short trip back to the truck.
Most of the time the D90 with the Tokina 11-16mm ultra wide and the D5000 with the 18-200mm zoom are all I need.
If I'm going to be photographing cars or architecture I will also take along the Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens. I always use this lens when shooting cars and architecture.
Yes, it's a lot of "stuff" but what's the use of having it if you don't use it?
Photography for me is a hobby. I do it for fun. Schlepping a lot of gear around is not fun, it's drudgery.

I post quite a few of my images on Smugmug as well as Flickr
