Sierra Blanca, Texas was the first stop on my Trans-Pecos photography tour. Like a lot of Western towns, Sierra Blana owes it's existance to the railroads. It is also one of those small towns that has a lot of Western flavor to it, plus a touch of Route 66.
Located off I-10, just 90 miles east of El Paso.
You will find plenty of old, abondoned buildings to photograph. I took this picture with the Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-200mm lens set on 36mm, f/5 at 1/1600s. I used aperture priority mode.
The following image is one of those pictures I always look for and love to find. The obvious Roadrunner tie in was impossible to resist.
Don't go in there! It's a Wiley E. Coyte trap!
Those were my first thoughts when I spotted the ACME sign.
I photographed this with the Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-200mm, at f/10 and 1/500 in aperture priority mode. I generally keep the ISO setting at either 200 or 400 and in the case of both of these images I was shooting at ISO 400. I know a lot of photographers that are terrified at the notion of using any ISO setting over 100, but I shoot with Nikons, so what's to fear? The digital era has liberated photographers from the bad old days of film with the extremely limited capabilities.
